Northgate Street Canterbury
Earliest date found is 1692 when it was listed in the licensing lists of that year, the following year it is again mentioned as listed as an inn for Billeting 2 soldiers. This may well be the same pub as the one addressed as the "Angel" in Duck Lane. Some time after that date it changed name to the "Angel's Castle," and then even later the "Angel and Castle." It is now known as the "City Arms" and achieved that name some time in the latter half of the 19th century.
