The "Cherry Tree" can be traced back to the 1692 licensing list and the following year as Billeting 6 men. It was being called the "Kentish Cricketer" in 1838 and remained that name till 1997 when for a short time it was referred to as the "Oranges" and then in February 2004 the Kentish was dropped and it is now referred to as the "Cricketers."
