Sea Street / Red Lion Lane (Horsebridge Road 1889) Whitstable 01227 273400
Before the fire of 1868 Sea Street was known as Marine Street. In 1869-70 the pub was part of a consortium who were advertising their goods of selling tea in response to grocers' selling beer and wine. (Click for further details.) I also know this has been or is called "Alberres" at some time if its existence, but do not know when. Local knowledge needed here please.
I am informed that in 1866 a fire damaged the premises and had to be later rebuilt. Further details hopefully to be added.
