I have only found this pub listed in the Pigot's Directory of 1832 to date where it was listed under Taverns and Public Houses. Further research ahs also found this mentioned in the Kentish Mercury where it was described as being a beerhouse.

TRANSFER OF LICENCES. Sept 25.

Present - Sir T. M. Wilson, Bart., chairman; General Angerstein, Captain Hossett, Alderman Eagleton, T. Lewin, Esq., J. Sutton, Esq., and Coles Chile, Esq.

This being the annual licensing day for the hundreds of Blackheath, and Little and Lessness, there was an unusually large attendance of applicants for spirit licences, numbering 60; of which Greenwich numbered 9; Saint Nicholas, Deptford, 1; Saint Paul, Deptford, 6; Lewisham, 4; Lee, 1; Charlton, 1; Woolwich, 20; and Plumstead, 14.

PLUMSTEAD.

Mr. Carttar supported the petition of John Gosling, "Anchor and Hope." Licence refused.

 

Kentish Independent 17 July 1869.

James Hood, landlord of the "Anchor and Hope" beerbouse, Market Hill, Woolwich, was summoned, for selling beer at unlawful hours on Sunday.

Mr. Hughes appeared for the defendant, and Mr. Maude, after bearing the evidence, ordered payment of 2s. costs.
