Earliest 1851-

Two Brewers

Latest 1871+

(Name to)

Bell Lane

Sittingbourne

Reference to this pub has been found in the census of 1851. I am informed that it changed name to the "Rose and Crown" certainly by 1881.

East Gazette dated Saturday September 22 1923.

Quite a number of licensees of the old fashioned inns of the neighbourhood belonged to the Crops at the period. There was Stephen Marchant, of the "Sun Inn," Greenstreet. John Goldston, of the "Old Volunteers Inn," Rainham (now standing derelict on the north side of Rainham Railway Station,) Charles Clinch of the "Two Brewers," Bell road, Sittingbourne (now the "Rose and Crown"). Thomas Willmore, of the "Globe and Engine," George Wood, of the "King's Arms," High-street, Milton; Arthur Joyner, whose father was the first occupant of the "Golden Fleece," West street, and others more or less connected with the licensing trade.
