PUB LIST PUBLIC HOUSES Paul Skelton

Earliest 1871-

Sun Inn

Latest 1871+

Greenstreet

Teynham

I'm not totally sure about this one as I have only found reference to it from an article in a 1923 paper. The writer is talking about old pubs and their licensees. John Goldston of the "Volunteer" in Rainham was licensee there in 1871.

East Gazette dated Saturday September 22 1923.

Quite a number of licensees of the old fashioned inns of the neighbourhood belonged to the Crops at the period. There was Stephen Marchant, of the "Sun Inn," Greenstreet. John Goldston, of the "Old Volunteers Inn," Rainham (now standing derelict on the north side of Rainham Railway Station,) Charles Clinch of the "Two Brewers," Bell road, Sittingbourne (now the "Rose and Crown"). Thomas Willmore, of the "Globe and Engine," George Wood, of the "King's Arms," High-street, Milton; Arthur Joyner, whose father was the first occupant of the "Golden Fleece," West street, and others more or less connected with the licensing trade.
