Above marks Crown G IV would have been added between 1824 and 1836 to indicate that it held a pint.

The pewter mug obviously belonged to the licensee whose initials were A. V. and that he probably had the pub pre 1824. I am still to trace his name,

TRANSFER OF LICENCES. Sept 25.

Present - Sir T. M. Wilson, Bart., chairman; General Angerstein, Captain Hossett, Alderman Eagleton, T. Lewin, Esq., J. Sutton, Esq., and Coles Chile, Esq.

This being the annual licensing day for the hundreds of Blackheath, and Little and Lessness, there was an unusually large attendance of applicants for spirit licences, numbering 60; of which Greenwich numbered 9; Saint Nicholas, Deptford, 1; Saint Paul, Deptford, 6; Lewisham, 4; Lee, 1; Charlton, 1; Woolwich, 20; and Plumstead, 14.

Mr. Pidcock supported Thomas Hancock, "Cricketers," and Mr. Colquibourn opposed. Licence refused.

Lewis Hancock, "Cricketers" beershop, Sand-street, was summoned for selling beer at irregular hours, and was fined 4s. and costs.

James Reeve, of the "Garibaldi" beershop, was also summoned for the above offence, but his case was adjourned for a week.
